Kalamazoo Nature Center is pretty nice, great trails. Ran all loops (except for a couple connectors) and ended up with close to 12 miles. Parking delano farms was locked, so I parked right inside the gate at the KRVT parking and was free. Look forward to seeing it when it's green and warm.
The best place in Kalamazoo for a peaceful hike though the forest. I love the great staff, and volunteers who help keep it a world class trail and reserve.
What an incredible place. Only explored a fraction, but clear this place was built on the shoulders of love and respect for the planet. Will be back.
The Nature Center is one of my favorite places to be in Kalamazoo. The trails are well cared for, and there is a nice variety of easy and challenging paths to take. The inside of the center is very kid-oriented but still educational for an adult. My four year old likes to explore both inside and outside. We have gone once a week almost all summer long. The membership is well worth the money!
They need to get rid of the so called artwork, we go there for nature. Bring back the beautiful view out the back you used to have and the interactive displays. Outside is beautiful, unfortunately as far as the inside goes the gift shop is the closest thing to a nature experience that we got.
One of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever been to. The grounds are well kept and you can’t hear a thing but the woods around you. It’s a great place to relax or gear up and get your hike on! Great for kids to play and have fun, they have rehabilitated hawks that they take care of and not to mention so many butterflies flying around!
. This is probably one of the most diverse Properties that I have been on thus far in my hiking journey. We did not do any of the Delano property only the Main Nature Center, Trails. Everything from fens And ponds to prairies and forests. The Kalamazoo river and little creeks. It’s all here. The trails are well defined and range from dirt, gravel, mowed grass, boardwalks bridges. The trails are marked with signs giving a brief description and a rating of easy moderate or difficult. Lots of variety of terrain and some good hills for those so inclined 🤪we scared up 7 deer, saw some woodpeckers, other birds abd water fowl. You really have to look at the pictures if you want a feel for this place ... oh the views! Stunning stunning stunning. Lots of parking, the nature center is currently closed but they have port a John’s both in the main parking area and at the Delano property. There is a fee to enter-5.00 is the most you will pay per person and they have various discounts for age groups. definitely worth the price of admission. Kid friendly, I don’t think they allow dogs. It was a great day for an adventure!
Great trails. Didn’t try all of them. That would take many visits and hours and hours. The shorter trails near the center itself did the trick. Huge tree canopy in the summer. Impressive.
The center itself shouldn’t be missed. It’s a quick self-tour around but worth the trip. The narrative on native peoples in Michigan and the history of conservation (and the exploitation of natural resources) in the state is very interesting. The Kalamazoo area was developed recently enough (past 180 years or so) that much of it is known and many of the original townspeople are identified. Great place.
